Event Date:

Event Time:
06:30 pm - 09:00 pm
Thinking of baking sourdough, but fearful of making a starter? Have sourdough loaves that just don't seem to rise? Or just want to raise your bread-baking game? Book Larder is thrilled to be partnering with local baker Linnea Scott to offer Sourdough 101.
Linnea will teach the key points of bread baking in this hands-on class; hand mixing and folding, and providing examples of proofed bulk-fermented dough, which you'll have a chance to shape and take home to bake. Using the cast iron method, the instructor will score and bake a few prepared loaves, so students can see what a fully proofed loaf looks like before and it goes into the oven and throughout the bake. She'll also cover the basics of a liquid sourdough starter, giving examples of a healthy starter and its feeding schedule. Everyone will leave the class with a Book Larder tea towel, a 2.2 lb bag of local Cairnspring Mills flour, their own sourdough starter, a recipe for sourdough bread, a fresh baked loaf of bread, and a wicker proofing basket filled with a loaf to be baked at home.
Class is limited to 9 people and is hands-on. A light salad will be served, along with generous samples of bread.
Please note that event registration is non-refundable and non-transferable.
