Wine Night: Intro to Natural Wine
Instructor: Suli Suliman
Students are required to present proof of COVID-19 vaccination + valid ID at the start of class (please plan to arrive early accordingly). Failure to do so will result in a cancellation of ticket, and a refund or store credit will not be issued. Examples of valid proof of COVID-19 vaccinations are: vaccination record card, digital or physical WA state certificate of vaccination from MyIRmobile.com, or a verified electronic medical record printout from a medical provider. For more examples, please reference this visual guide.
Students will also be required to wear masks during the non-eating portions of class.
Natural wine has become all the rage in the wine world, but the concept might leave you scratching your head —isn't all wine "natural" to some degree? Join Seattle bartender Suli, founder of cocktail kit pop-up Aswad and owner of new upcoming bar Cafe Suliman, for a deep dive into this burgeoning field. What are the origins of natural wine and what makes a wine "natural"? Why drink natural wine and why is it so popular? Where can you find it in Seattle?
As you discuss these questions, you will taste through 6 different natural wines (sparkling, rose, orange, skin-contact white, white, and red). You will learn not only their differences and how they're made, but also how to identify basic wine-tasting notes and how to talk about wine with your wine monger.
Class is limited to 12 students. Includes tastes of each wine, along with light snacks. Please note that class reservations are non-refundable.
