We're hiring part-time seasonal booksellers to join our team for the busy fall and holiday season!
Our booksellers are the first point of contact for customers and help create the warm and welcoming experience that Book Larder is known for.
Responsibilities include:
· Assist store leadership in executing the day-to-day operations of the store
· Greet customers and provide exceptional customer service
· Understand customer requests/interests and make thoughtful book and gift recommendations
· Learn and confidently use our point-of-sale and inventory management system to process in-store and online transactions
· Pack, ship, and fulfill online orders accurately and efficiently
· Monitor and respond to phone, voicemail, and email inquiries
· Assist with receiving, unpacking, and processing incoming inventory
· Shelve, restock, and merchandise books and other inventory
· Restock store supplies and packaging materials
· Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment through regular cleaning, dusting, and straightening
· Support the setup, operation, and teardown of author events, cooking classes, and other store programming
· Stay informed about new releases, bestselling titles, and store inventory to better assist customers
· Work collaboratively with the team to complete ad hoc projects and support the needs of the store
Qualifications:
· Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
· Ability to learn and follow established processes and workflows
· Comfort using technology and productivity tools such as Google Docs and Microsoft Office
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small, team-oriented environment, with a willingness to pitch in wherever needed
· Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
· Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
· Prior retail or customer service experience preferred; bookstore, publishing, or specialty retail experience is a plus
Schedule & Hours:
· Seasonal position spanning late August 2026 through January 10, 2027
· 12–20 hours per week, with additional hours available based on store needs
· Must be available to work weekends, 2–3 evenings per week during peak event season, and throughout the holidays, including Black Friday, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve
Pay & Perks:
· $22.00 per hour
