Whetsone Volume 09: Spring 2022

Volume 9 explores Indigenous cultures and the effects of shifting borders and colonizers. These ideas spread from the Sami hunters and fishers of Finnmark to the Indisch people and cuisine in Indonesia and the Netherlands. We also look at curry powder’s journey around the world and ancient olive orchards in Turkey.

About Whetstone: Whetstone is an independently published quarterly print and digital publication on food origins, culture, and culinary anthropology. More ancestral than artisan, Whetstone explores the origins of the things we eat and drink, seeking to better understand people through their food and traditions. The magazine debuted in the spring of 2017.
